I sort of hijacked a thread below, and while my message was on topic it has not gotten much responce. I thought perhaps I should start my own thread instead.
I've been monkeying with trying to get the DLNA server on the phone to work. It was pointed out to me that from the music player
Menu->Settings->Media share settings->Check Media share box
should turn the feature on. And it appears too; the DLNA icon shows up in the notification area, etc. However up until last night I couldn't see the phone DLNA server from my PC, TV, or Xbox.
Last night I decided to try again and turned on the Media share. This time I left the Upload to phone and support xbox boxes unchecked and security level set to always ask. Suddenly I got two request for devices trying to connect to the phone. Eureka ... I thought. One device was the TV and the other was the PC, the xbox didn't try to connect but of course I had unchecked the xbox support so no surprize there.
I added both connections to trusted devices and saved them. I then open the DLNA player on the TV and browsed to a video on the phone ... and it played! Next I tried playing my mp3 playlist to the TV. The TV started loading, then got stuck, then told me that it lost the connection to the DLNA device. After that, no mater what I did I couldn't get the connection back ... on either the TV or the PC.
All this leads me to belive that it is not the TV of PC that are glitchy but the DLNA sever on the RAZR. If it were either of the other devices it would be likely that one or the other would be sporadically having issues but because it seems like an all or non situtation I hypothesize that the DLNA server on the phone is not broadcasting properly and I happened to hit it just right last night. Problem is I don't know what I could have done differently ... and the fact that it disconnected randomly while I was using it seems to indicate that the media sharing service is buggy.
Anyone gotten this to work on a regular bases? If so, do you have any pointers? I could use some advice.
