Help media transfer

I tried moving my pictures from internal storage to sd card I made a folder and placed them in there on sd card and after they where moved all my pictures are gone when I check my sd card I think they might be in another folder called lost directory I tried using es explore and changing the name and adding jpeg to the end but nothing can any body help please photos I can't replace thank you for your time
