Help "Mediaserver" and battery use

Coming from a few other smartphones, I can say that I've had my fair share of battery problems. Not saying the Galaxy S3 has battery problems, but rather I feel it could be better. Specifically, ewhat is the mediaserver app and why does it use so much battery percentage? Attached is the screenshot.

My media apps are Gallery, Poweramp, and Quickpik.
I thought I closed them all (long press home and swype to close) but the mediaserver is still running.... :-(

Anyway the battery on the phone is aight.
Two and a half hours of screen on time and it's at 48%. But I feel it could be better no? This mediaserver app... ugh,

That's about what mine looks like after listening to dogcatcher all day at work, media server is the highest.

I'd only worry about it if you aren't actually listening to anything and it's that high.

check that you havent got a corrupt image. Sometimes that causes the mediaserver to run continuously draining your battery

bad image file or bad movie file.

i couldnt find either one on mine and i just did a factory reset and while i lost everything, solved the issue...

lol...
