Root Memory again

My desire is rooted and I was running ICS roms which had built into them a2sd which seedmed to work perfectly I always had loads of free memory but the roms wernt stable and I got fed up of rebooting etc , I am now running REDUX gingerbread rom and I cant get a2sd apps from google play to work properly am I doing something wrong , whichever one I try I am still getting low memory warning ???????

What do you mean a2sd apps? Redux has an a2sd script in it, so if you have an ext partition stuff should go there automatically. You don't need to "move" anything to sd, and you don't need an app to manage this.

There is a patch in the Redux XDA thread if you want to move the dalvik cache to ext, which will give you more space: flash the patch from recovery, wipe dalvik, then reboot.

Is it automatically activated , with the ics rom's I had to use terminal emulator and type a2sd install but this doesn't work on this rom. I already have the extra partition which worked fine with the other roms.

It's the DarkTremor script which you use "a2sd" commands on. The Redux one is automatic.

Quick System Info or Titanium Backup can show you whether the partition is being used.

Titanium says a2sd is being used size is 1gb , 924 mb free , but my internal memory is 111mb used and 37 mb free with the ICS roms I have tried it was always alot more free memory or is that just because it is on gingerbead now ?

You want to move the dalvik cache to sd as well. There's a patch to the ROM to do this - you should find it in the Redux thread at XDA.

Download the patch, go into recovery, take a nandroid (always nandroid before flashing anything!;)), wipe dalvik cache, flash the patch, reboot the phone and you'll have several 10s of MB more space.

If you are S-Off you can free up an extra 150 MB or so when running Redux, because it's so small you can use a much smaller system partition. But I'd start with the dalvik moving and see if that's enough. Read the root memory faq if you are interested though.

Hadron, can you move this to all things root? Can't do it via Tapatalk because of the now needed pre fixs and I can't be bothered using the browser.

I'll pm you the link for this thread, just in case you don't see this.

Oh, I had a message from Steven, and with me not using a browser, I don't see pre fixs anyway.
