Memory Allocation

I've noticed that when uninstalling applications, not all of the memory is returned.

According to phone I only had 21mb of space left, and when deleted a 6mb application it then reported only 24mb free, but after doing a reset I'm back to 72mb free on the phone.

As anyone else noticed this when deleting applications

Deleting an app doesnt immediately recover all the memory ... but the memory manager may do it given time .... so next time give it a bit more time or try and use the "MemoryUpdate" app (if you can still download it from the Developers web-site ... it was pulled from the market ... I am still using my copy of it ...

actually found out what uses all the memory on the G1

Browser + Market

At least under browser you can clear the cache, but for the Market place you can't

Actually before the OTA Update I had the icon on my phone for weeks, nothing I did got rid of it. Apps, reboots, etc. The update finally cleared it up for me.
Strange. Mine has always cleared shortly after clicking on the low memory notification. Since the update I do seem to have more space available though.

even reboot won't clean it - the only way i've found of clearing the market data is to do a factory reset.

i know before the update market was over 20mb in size
