My computer was the first "big" shopping I did. I think I was about 12 at the time.
Ah, how bulky, noisy and slow those things were...
And now we have tablets. Tablets!!
I did have a texas intruments hand held computer back around 1984. It plugged into the back of a television. You had to put in commands, and a lot of them just to make a black and white analog clock with crap graphics. It came with a book to make dumb useless stuff like that. I thought of it as more of a parlor trick! lol
I found books for the 64 we had. I could figure out what the program could basically do.
So I bought everything educational. I also found a music program you typed in.
You could enter the notes from a melody line in sheet music, and the little computer would play it back. The Vulcan wrote a black jack program for her. We had hangman and something with turtles.
Relating to these early computers - we bought daughter a "Speak and Spell." I told the Vulcan to deal with it - he wound up calling TI!
