Memory Problem

But it's stock Android. All my other friends have the 16 GB version also and it even says there is 16! It's not like the Galaxy S4 with 16 GB that has the problem with the features and bloatware. See it used to say that I have 16 GB, but not idk why but it says 8 GB, like really I need my other 8 GB back.

If you go to settings and storage, it will at least give you an idea of what is taking up so much room... For example, I have nearly 7gb of "misc" data on mine, which is likely a load of nandroid backups and a ROM zip. You'd be able to hazard a guess as to what's taking up the room and delete/transfer to your computer :)

My vanilla 16GB N4 reports 12.9GB of useable space which would imply the OS is taking somewhere less than 4GB. Free space is reported separately.

Sounds to me like the OP needs to get in touch with Google ..

Not necessarily wrong, depends on usage. A 16MB version never have more than 13MB or so available, and (for example) marking a movie for offline viewing could easily bring this down to 8GB or less without adding anything at all to the stock phone.

It also depends where the "8GB" figure is coming from; it would help if the OP could explain exactly where "it says I only have 8 GB" or (better) post a screenshot of it.

You're quite right: a lot of people are assuming he's reading the 'Available' number while I'm assuming from the context of the original post that he's reading the 'Total space' number .. otherwise the post kinda doesn't make sense: why would you complain about space not being available if you'd used it?

You haven't done any fastboot flashing or anything, have you? I ran into an issue at one point where I had somehow messed up the partitioning so my N4 acted like it was an 8GB version instead of the 16GB one. If I recall correctly, I ended up reflashing the full factory image to resolve it.
