Root memory usage in cm 10

I know its a lost cause and all unless someone picks her back up,but someone gave me an esteem for my bday .so I started re looking into her (Diana) and compared it to the four dot two of the optimus elite and noticed the memory disparity sub two hundred mbs on diana the elite closer to four hundred runs smooth, the chipsets are similar but the hardware is differnent. why is the differnece so huge what steps can be made reduce the footprint ?

I don't think you get what I mean I am talking RAM usage not storage and its cyanogen mod without gapps I flashed and seen how much was free on Diana vs one of my many elites with gapps
