Help Memory! where for art thou!

Hey everyone!!

Ive got a new samsung Galaxy S2!! Coming from a HTC Hero its pretty awesome, but...

16GB memory..
1GB internal memory...

I see the 16GB is recognised as USB storage, but when i create a folder under this and stick anything like pictures in there, i cant find them! Gallery then lists nothing avaliable!!

I dont like that i cant set it to use this area as a default for where my videos/pictures i make with the camera are stored, this means i get a limit of the avaliable free space, and cant specify that it uses the USB storage..

Is there something i am missing? What is the point of the 16GB file area, if i cant put my pictures and videos there and then access them from Gallery/Videos??

don't put them in USB storage lol
just make a new folder and put them in there

Thanks, but will this not eat up my internal storage?? Id like to make the most of the 16GB, but unsure how i stick things in there, and then access them from the apps!!

The way in which memory is referred to and where in the file system it is mounted is thoroughly confusing. Have a look at this post http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2/340373-memory-sd-card-phone.html#post2737590 I wrote trying to explain to someone else how it is structured.

SWEET!!! I got it now, the only shown memory is the 16GB!! Yippeee!!

So under "my files", the actual 16gb is viewed, all pics and videos are automatically saved here, i thought it would be a bit pants if samsung made you move stuff back and forth
I missed the little line at the very top of the app...
"/sdcard"
SO silly of me!! its defaulting to the root of the SDcard (the one samsung soldered into the device!)
