Help Menu key and back key issue

Hi all,
I have a Samsung Gio, fully updated to the latest Gingerbread version distributed by Kies.
I frequently lose the use of the menu and back keys which are beside the home key. The white led lights are off and "pressing" the buttons does nothing at all. This is of course quite annoying.
Locking and unlocking the device almost always solves the problem, but I was wondering what could be causing this behaviour, and even more what could be done to solve the problem.

I have a hanging Back key. When I unlock the device, and hit the Home button, it often results in a screenshot, as if I was also holding the back key. So my habit it to unlock by pressing power button, then Back button. I figured it's a weak spot on the Gio :-|
