I recently bought a Virgin Mobile variant 816 off eBay as a possible fixer-upper for a family member. If you hold the phone in landscape mode, everything works fine. Vertically, the phone doesn't allow any menu choices to be clicked. If I press on, say, a choice in Settings, the screen text moves up and down slightly, but will not allow me to select the menu option.
Two updates came through right after I got the phone, so it is now on Lollipop. I used the power/volume down combo to factory reset after, but the problem persists.
Is it possibly a hardware problem, despite only occurring when the phone is vertical? Other than that glitch, the touchscreen seems responsive, and there is no damage visible.
I'd love any suggestions - if the phone was for me, I'd tolerate the glitch, but I know my family isn't that patient.
