Root [Merit] anotherZTE MERIT thread. rooting q's

Hey guys.

Just picked up a merit on net10. Moving over from the boost prevail.(no service) ran all the roms over there and a couple themes so i have knowldge with CWM and flashing and such. Looking to root this this weekend.

Couple questions.

Does the early stock flash to get the *983* codes work on this model or do ihave to go with the jcase method?

Are the only roms anthonys one.three series and the mh ones?

I wish theyd give you a forum. All the bouncing from avail to merit is a bit confusing. I know they are close but some things must be different.

Edit. Also, does anthonys tuts for cwm and partitioning work on the merit too

Hello, I have the merit with net10 as well. I like the phone over all. I don't know how to use a downloaded ringtone as my main notification for my txt messages. Can you help me or know someone who can? Thanks much. -- Erica

Actually no. Im having a hell of a time with ringtones. I tried the top six apps and myxer and have no luck so far. I can set recorded sounds and use paid for ringtones so far. Gonna work on it.

On another note, got rooted thanks to jcase and cwm thanks to anthony. Thanks headed your guys way soon.

After rooting, you can use a file manager app to put ringtones right in the audio files of the phone. Its simple. The stock ones for zte were pathetic. I found One X, SG3 and Sony Xperia a little nicer. They are permanently on the phone when you put them in the audio file.
