Root [Merit] Is there a kernel for wifi hotspot for the merit?

I have seen many apps on market about wifi hotspotting your phone and didnt think the merit could do tat function. Is it possible? if so how?

Wifi Tethering did not work on my Merit until after I rooted it, and unlocked the tethering function, there are many threads on the subject, or you could just flash a rom that has it unlocked.

the menu seems to show on one.three, so something tells me the carrier edits which menus are unlocked on the stock ROMs. i wonder what it would take to unlock every menu possible in Android on these phones. i know CyanogenMod ROMs do that but none are working on this phone yet (and i'm not giving up!)

i think it's possible through apps from the market alone. i've personally never tried it.

but there is an interesting property set in "/system/etc/init.wlanprop.sh" that reads "setprop ro.tether.denied false" that i'm assuming is what is used to deny the capability in the settings menu. i could be wrong though. i'm sure this has something to do with tethering, just not completely sure what.

but even without messing with this, apps from the market should provide you with what you are wanting.

i read the same thing about the mobile network mode and 2G network only menu. it's in some kernel or init script. unfortunately i cannot edit those like a build.prop file to change their values.

Once rooted WiFi tether works great. On the one.three ROM tether is in settings but it doesn't work.
