Root [Merit] Need your advice "Out of Ideas", or very well like experienced experts on Zte merit

I think that I may know what happen to my Merit to screw up the system in the first place, but really need an expert, preferably the one I received the zip from (he'd more than likely know the solution and answer I seek.

Grant you my device malfunctioned soooo bad in the first few days I had it, but nothing compaired to the craziness it threw at me last week.

Today I downloaded Titanium Backup & while checking things out (not touching anything just getting feel of a tad of my superuser rights........ I noticed that the SD card I hadbeen using had some of my old android files & what not backed up on it.
Now, Im wondering, is it possible that somehow the settings from my old android could of got accidently flashed or installed to my new device when it first started repeat rebooting? I remember restoring it back to cactory when it done it......Cuz I just grabbed an sd out my drawer and inserted in my device due to someone (aheem Angel_baby) switched our sd cards out as a joke adlost mine in the process,. Not thinking later on, zI just backed up what I was able to. Do you guys think that could of been my main problem to start with?

And please, if you're reading this Out of Ideas, please tell me what to do and how to know whick ones arent needed. (Looks like doubles when it comes to account/system sync, etc....oh and fcc test was exposed on sd as well....that normal?
Second thing: sis mentoned some custom ROMs that you posted (as well as I think I remembered you saying something as well)
I know that your methods work for me, and trust n what you do. Do you have anything you advise?
Oh.....Angel was wanting to know....IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO AXCESS THE HIDDEN KEYBOARD ON THE ZTE MERIT Z990G OR IF THERE IS A MASTER OVERRIDE CODE FOR IT??

I think your actually in the /system/app section , not the sdcard. if you use that ES file explorer, the bar up top should read /sdcard or /system or /system/app or wherever you are.

So those files are in your phone, not on the sdcard so switching wouldnt matter.

This thread got the ones you can delete from /system/app .

its what I've been running everyday since I started working with it on it last year.

its made to be as much like ice cream sandwich as possible. But im about to update it pretty soon so i would maybe hold off for now. Stayboogy made some roms people liked, they still look more like what you got now but different colors and some tweaks and stuff. I Dont think i ever ran it before, but people seem to like it.

Does she mean the keyboard with the old style button number thing with the white background?
Go into settings, scroll down to language and keyboard and you can pick which one you want.


I'm gonna have to start charging you for advice pretty soon

Lol great advice is worth paying for tho and so far everything you have advised has worked like a charm. I still have a few reboots but its no where as many and at least Im able to use it again

Im not sure......she just keeps saying that every phones suppose to have some kind of master override code incase it needs repairs to it??
Told you she has me lost. I guess she means how does she over ride the system so she can axcess some kind of code to get the backdoor of her phone. Something about a keyboard. (Shes strange) i honestly believe that she is speaking of a post about how the zte corp admitted to some of their devices being left with some type of a break in the software or something. I googled it and found something on another android based phone they made but nothing on the Z990g. So Im not sure.

If I were to try one of his ROMs would I still be able to install your updated one later? I mean it wouldnt cause any issues later on with my phone? (Lol I just realized how new to all of this------ I know nothing lol)

oh yeah Zte had those codes on the Avail. You just had to enter in like *9538 or something and it rooted the phone, and there were quite a few other ones. That ones doesn't work on merits, but there are still other codes that work.

i found a list one time, but I never tried any of them so I don't know what works. One guy in here tried one and it pretty much destroyed his phone (touchscreen wouldnt work anymore). So i would be real careful with those.

yeah he did a good job with his stuff, so it should be fine installing ours back and forth. A few other people did it before and had no problems.

And it's cool, I didn't know anything like a year ago, and now I can help out people hundreds of miles a way, so that's pretty cool.

i know how much it sucks getting a phone you can't use, so I'm glad i could help you out.

Hmm, then I will give it a try, but first have to download everything all over again and reroot. not real sure what happened. Spent 6 hours on the phone arguing with net10 over my phone. Now, I have three sim cards all registered to me yet USELESS, becsuse they can't seem to know how to "provision" them. When they tried, my whole phone and sd card deleted (not real sure how or why either)
Had everything backed up but since they did whatever my sd card now says its damaged and I can't find anything I had backed up including kids photos.

kinda steaming at the moment ....once again have a paid months worth of services that I'm unable to axcess new sim came and I can't get ahold of anyone. when i do they just argue that my phones activated (says imei number an imsi number my number but says no phone or mobile services no wifi no Ip address....nothing ....not even what network I'm on.

Yea, I came across some of those codes earlier and toyed around with her phone. a lot say wrong code or invalid mms....others just run a complete test of some system functions like the screen, pressure test, gps, etc nothing to reallg give axcess to what she's wanting or even thinking of.
