Root [Merit] net10 merit need root help please

kidpakman

Newbie
I have a zte merit and want to get rid of alot of the stuff on it that i don't use and most likely never will. I am a complete idiot when it comes to these things, so I need someone to take me by the hand and lead me through it. I have looked around and seen alot of different ways to do this and usually there are a few hang ups. this is the only phone i have and i need it to end up working. that being said does anyone have the patience to walk me through it completely step by step.
thanks

do I do this on my phone or on the computer? Every time I try to download it on the phone it says download unsuccessful after half a second.

I just removed a ton of crap from the phone and it is still saying low storage.

the stuff that comes on the phone. Is it given a certain amount of space and whether it is on there or not the space is still slotted for it and can't be used otherwise?

If that's the case. How can I redefine that space to make it smaller ?

If not what should I be doing?

Thanks

Partition your SD card. Use Link2SD.

Ok so I got link2sd and just like all the other apps I have no idea what is going on.
I really don't. How do I partition my sd card?
I do see on there that on internal storage the data is full as well as the other part of internal storage so please help I am trying to learn and you all have helped me a great deal. but I am still learning and all the apps i get all seem foreign to me and i feel like i'm just going to mess my phone up.
Is there a thread about link2sd, titanium backup, and I got one called fx which to me seems more indepth then es file explorer. but what do I know. thanks again

I suggest you read up about partitioning your SD Card with an Android Recovery system. Google is your friend, Looking it up and reading it on you're own will do more justice than me explaining it to you. You'll learn better that way.

As for using Link2SD, It's rather simple. Since you haven't partitioned your SD Card yet, you can't link anything. All you can do is "Move" them to the SD Card. You can do this by following these instructions:

1. Long-Click on App you want to move (A menu will come up)
2. Select "Move to SD card"

Walla, the .APK is now on your SD Card instead of using up internal space. This will free a lot of space, not as much as "Linking" the App but enough to make a noticeable difference. If you're really looking to free your internal space, Do as I originally stated. Look into partitioning your SD Card and add an sdext partition.

** note **
Certain apps don't place nice after being moved to the SD Card. It's trial and error, if the APP stops working after moving to sd. Move it back to internal.

Hey THANKS! I use to do nothing but google. Then I found this site and kinda got tunnel vision thinking that I found the golden ticket.
Okay so I've partitioned my sd card and now I don't know what goes where.
can you help
thanks

1. open link2sd
2. press menu button, 3 horizontal lined button.
3. go to more.
4. recreate mount scripts
5. select ext3 or what ever you made the partition
6. press menu again
7. options
8. check autolink
9. auto link settings, check all 3 options.
10. install location, select external
11. reboot phone.

Everything from now on will be automatic. Everytime you install an app itll be autolinked to the sdext partition. Enjoy.

now that i've partitioned my sd. where do i tell link2sd to put the apps? ext2, or fat32?
also will i now be able to use the sd for all internal system memory?

Depends on how you partitioned it. Don't link your basic apps that are needed to run the phone. If a so can be replace from Play then it can can be replaced & moved.
