Root Mesmerize 2.2 Voodoo lagfix made Simple

WARNING!!!!!! I am in no way responsible for any damage or problems that may arise from doing this to your phone! You must have root access and that voids your warranty! Well kinda voids it if ya know what I mean.

So I've spent some time trying to figure out how to flash a voodoo kernel to my Mez. Well I figured out a very simple way to do it!

First download the EC10 ulv Voodoo

Second mount your phone as mass storage and move the EC10 ulv.zip to your phones SD card. Best if you put it in the root directory.

Third head over to the android market on your phone and install "SGS kernel flasher". The icon is a penguin in a blues brothers outfit sitting down.

Fourth open SGS Kernel Flasher and click "CHOOSE KERNEL" Find the .zip you placed on the phone and click it!

Last but not least your phone will reboot and do it's thing. Just wait and it will get you back to the goodness. "You should hear a ladies robotic voice telling you that it's setting up the lagfix.

All this in 5 simple steps! I hope this helps anyone who was used to the simple 2.1 root+lagfix and has had trouble installing or understanding the XDA Dev instructions.
 
Maybe a clarification is in order...

Its built on the EC10 build for the Fascinate. The kernels WILL work with the Mesmerize, but if you're planning to load something like this I would suggest that you be very comfortable with the process and truly understand what you're attempting to do to your phone.

This is a kernel, not a complete ROM.
 
I used this kernel and it is working pretty well. My phone was going really slow after the 2.2 update and it kept getting worse and worse. The OneClickLagFix would't work so I tried this. So far so good. My Quadrant score is 1325 which is much less than others with this phone that have use some lag fixes but it is doing good for me at the moment.

We just got a beta rom of CM6 Quadrant scores of 2690!!! It's ******ed...

The rom is however not 100%

That sounds awesome but I really don't know what you are talking about. A ROM is a complete rewrite of the OS, right? Will using a ROM as opposed to a kernel upgrade erase all data from the phone?

It shouldn't but it can. The first time I upgraded my phone it F-d up and wiped it for some reason. My wifes Mez on the other hand had no issues. The best bet is to root and get CWM Red Recovery "Found in the Mez XDA secion" and do a complete backup. Once you flash a new rom go into CWM and do a "DATA ONLY" recovery.
 
I followed your instructions but when it rebooted it simply booted as normal but the Galaxy S bootscreen also had the word Android acrossed it. I didn't hear a woman's voice or anything. Any Ideas?

Download Voodoo Control from the market to check. You should have it enabled if you saw the android logo.
 
Ok, so which of those files should you install if you're working on a basic, stock Mez that has been rooted? Or do I have to do something else?
 
I would not install this voodoo kernel on your Mez if you have the patch update. That gives you a kernel built on EE19. This voodoo kernel is based on EC10, which is the one that had all the missed calls/texts bugs in it.

Ehh, too late. I threw caution to the wind and installed it already, but everything seems to be working fine so far, but it's only been an hour. I'll check back if anything starts acting up.
 
Will do. So far it seems to be running great. Phone calls are coming in, the phone is running smoothly and I'm getting emails. My Quadrant score has gone from 950ish to over 1300.
