Message notification

I'd like to know if it is possible to get an app or change the settings so that message contents won't be shown on the top of the screen?

I've managed to get Handcent which allows me to stop the contents to be shown at the bottom of the screen

Yes, under handcent's privacy section in settings. Disable "show message in notification area".

It'll then simply say you have a message, rather than it's content
