Help Message retrieval

[Quirky71]

Hi all, I have recently acquired a Samsung galaxy s3 and had a couple of questions regarding text messages. Firstly are old messages auto deleted after a certain amount of time and if so is it possible to retrieve them? Many thanks,
Paul.

Welcome to Android Forums, Quirky71.

I looked and there is a limit you can set when old messages get deleted which the default should be 200 and you can turn this setting off when messages get deleted when the limit is reached. Hope this helps.

Thanks metroid! Any possible way to retrieve deleted messages? Or are they forever gone? Cheers,
Paul.

I think they are gone forever.

There are a couple of apps that may interest you:

One called Dumpster, is in the process of adding the ability to undelete text messages. They do not have it finished yet but it is in the works.

Also you can get an app called SMS Backup and Restore. It will allow you to back up all your messages and also to send them to an email address for cloud storage. Great for transferring all your text messages to a new phone. Works GREAT!

Cheers David appreciate that. Will look into those apps. By the way drop box works wonders for storage
