Help Message when booting

Android Expert
I noticed a new message appearing on my phone whenever it boots. I don't think it's from Lollipop, but I want to be sure. As the phone is booting, after the red Verizon screen, I get a white box with black print saying " Android is upgrading, starting apps". Then the phone starts as usual. If a few people would say they also have it or they don't have it, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance,

Standard Android message.

Prior to Lollipop it meant that the Dalvik cache was updating.

Lollipop and onwards it means that plus some app or apps are recompiling.

If the carrier has pushed updates to their apps that don't install until reboot, or if a Play Store action wasn't completing until reboot, then you're going to see that.
