how do I turn my message notifications back on to my status bar.

i need help getting my message notifications to show up on my status bar. samsung centura
 
Hit Settings >Application Manager > near the top of the screen, slide the Downloaded/Running/All to All tab > then scroll to Messaging icon > make sure that the SHOW NOTIFICATIONS is checked
