Messaging application on Android 2.2

[bbprashant]

I'm new to Android and do not have a Android 2.2 based Mobile Handset.
URL : - Android 2.2 Platform | Android Developers specifies "Messaging" is a built in application to the Android 2.2 platform.

I would like to know, which applications comes under "Messaging" Feature / application?

Does Instant Messaging (IM) comes under this?

Thanks in advance

Messaging is only for SMSes and MMses.

You get the Google Talk for IM.
