Messaging background style

Greetings peoples,

Nothing too major, but on my S3 i can set a background image for my SMS messaging.
Following an update, that image, when selected via the gallery is automatically dimmed in the background of the messages window.
Previously when selecting an image to use as a background it would be the same colour/brightness as the image (not dimmed)

Does anyone know of a fix to this?

That just sounds like a feature of the update rather than something fixable.

Seems like they purposefully made it faded like a watermark.

I am on a custom 4.1.2 TW rom currently and get the full brightness selection. Its distracting to the message bubbles so I can see why they may have thought to do that, but they should have made that customizable.
