messaging homescreen.

hey guys, i wonder if anyone can help me with something that is really bugging me.. i dont know if it hits anyone else or it's just me.

i have an xperia s running 2.3.7 (ICS not ready for me yet). i have two message icons on my screen just using the default message service (no fancy app thing, just the built in).

one of the shortcuts is for direct message to my wife, dont really have a problem with that one, it goes straight to the wife. the second one is the standard shortcut to messaging.

now if i send a message to the wife then everything happens fine. if i then get a message from someone else and i press the standard shortcut, rather than go through the notification bar, then it also goes straight to the message thread with the wife.

now sometimes i dont notice cause i am tired or something, and i end up answering the text but sending the answer to the wife.. this usually happens when i send a message to a friend asking them to come over, they say 'when?' so i see their question in the notification bar, press messages, answer it, but it sends to the wife.

when i do notice and i press 'back' it exits messaging completely, and i have to go back in, again it sometimes goes to the wifes list, i press back again and it goes to the message homescreen..

i know i can go through the notification bar, although i swear sometimes that goes to the wife as well.. i guess my question is this. can i set up a link that goes to the messaging homescreen? the one that lists all the message threads, rather than to the last place the messaging app was...

It sounds like both icons may be shortcuts to your wife's message thread. I would suggest you delete that icon. Then go to your app tray, long tap on your message app and then drag it back to your home screen. See if this works.

If this doesn't work, what happens when you go to the app tray and launch your message app from there?

they were both definitely different shortcuts. the Wife one went to messaging and forced it to go straight into a message to her, the other was the standard shortcut to messaging, but of course that goes straight to wherever messaging was last and as the app was still open in the background, the last place was the wife's thread.

if i msg the wife, then kill the app completely then when i use the standard shortcut, it goes to the messaging homescreen as it has to load it from new... the problem is the standard shortcut just opens messaging, it is not a link to the homescreen, so it just goes to wherever messaging was last.
