Help Messaging Notification when no Text?

Lately my phone has been playing my custom notification for messaging for no apparent reason- it plays for text messages and always did, but now it goes off seemingly randomly- no texts, nothing in the status bar, wi-fi and bluetooth off ( thought it was discovery of ??)

I've killed a few running apps that I installed but seemingly no effect.

Any ideas what is playing the messaging notification or how to find it?

Could this be what you are talking about? My phone stopped doing this a while ago, but now it's doing it again. Very weird, sorta amusing
