Messaging problem

Hi guys would really appreciate if any of you could help me. My new samsung galaxy s3 has been having a strange problem and im not sure whether it is the phone or the sim card.

randomly around once a day the phone will not send text messages and will not call (or phone sort of lags before it starts to call). Turning off WiFi does not force the phone to connect to the 3G.

I have noticed the reception sometimes fluctuates from 0 bars to 4 bars, but when this happens its usually on 2-3 bars. I have never had this problem when i was using my iphone 4, or the previous galaxy s3 that this replaced due to some other defect.

Anyone know anything about this?

If you are getting poor signal that will cause problems making calls and sending/receiving sms. I have had this happen trying to make calls and it would lag till I had a good signal. From what you describe you may need to do a Factory reset (I know the setup process again), but sometimes it is what is needed.

Turn off phone.
Pull out SIM card and reinsert it
Turn phone on again.

This will force the phone to reload all the towers in the area. This may help.

I suspect you are losing connection to your local tower.
