Alright, the big problem is, when i synced with the google sync, I now have 2 number of each contact..
What went wrong?

If each name is listed twice, or everyone has the same number twice, then you probably Sync'd from the SIM card and from online.

Open Contacts and hit the Left button/Menu button and mess around with More options and Import....or maybe the Update button.

But I am kinda confused. Does Sync work or not?

My friend had an old SIM card with his contacts...imported those....then did a google sync and imported those...and some information was doubled.

OK...I see.

I gave up on the Ericsson update. I created an account. Tried once...after 30 seconds of it apparently doing nothing I quit. Then when I reflashed my phone from the stock ROM I had I tried again. Same thing.

So for me....I have never had it work. It was slow and didn't ever work for me.

I don't know where the backup are.

And I am kind of mad at Sony and the entire PSN network still being down (for PS3 users) and that they are rebuilding the entire network....going on 7 days now.

So, during the process.....that looks like this -

Sony Ericsson | Backup & Restore

In the Restore process at the bottom....you make it to like step 2?

Yeah! I've been using that now lol, but I need to delete all the duplicate numbers myself, which is a pain!,
Wish there was a program which synced with the computer so I can edit my contacts there or back up to PC etc.. instead of doing it online,

Agreed. Would be nice if you could download the information as a file from Sony themselves. For all me know, it might just be a little CSV file you could mess around with in Excel or something. It is probably something plaintext.

Or some sort of viewable profile of the information on the Sony website where you could manipulate the information.

Yeah not sure lol, I was using the Nokia 5800 before, I could backup sms/mms/phone book by using their companion thing, which is very convenient imo

When I first set up my phone I had each contact showing up twice. I think because it was grabbing my google contacts as well as the contacts from my backup I tried to restore on "My Lookout" software.

As a result, I think what happens is that the ones you restore using SE backup or other backup will end up populating in the "Other Contacts" section in you gmail account.

I think you may be able to solve it, and If I recall I did this too, is within your gmail contacts on your pc, use the option in the More actions dropdown which is "Find and Merge Duplicates"

like I said, check your "Other contacts" in your gmail list first and see if they are all there. I think if you delete them all from there, it may work as well.
