Messed up with software update

I tried to upgrade my Samsung galaxy S2 GT-I9100G to Android ICS. But i ended up with a frozen screen stating "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". I couldn't get into neither download or recovery mode. I saw a few forums and came to know that USB jig would work. But is that the only way to get into downloading mode on my phone? Please help. :(

Welcome to Android Forums, look around and enjoy. :beerglass:

Be sure to check out the sections dedicated to your Android device( Android Phones - Android Forums ) and your Carrier ( Android Carriers - Android Forums ).

For Tablets check this section out, ( Android Tablets & MIDs - Android Forums )

Also if you want to be able to connect to the Forums from your Android device, be sure to check out the free Phandroid app in the Google Play Market. Cheers!!!!

I believe that is an international model, if so, I would post your question in that section to get the better response and help you need, Samsung Galaxy S2 (International)

If not, let us know which carrier you are with.

Hello and welcome aboard. I'm not quite familiar with the functions of your device, but if you can get to ""reset"" the device _ most likely this will fix the update issue.

Usually holding down the power plus volume button down for a second or two should give you some options. One which include resetting the device.
