Metro Network Question

Hi, I have a LGMS690 through Metro, and as far as I know this phone is 3G capable. My problem is every time I test the network speed it comes in just faster than dial up. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem as Metro is suppose to be adding 4G to my area "central Florida" and I am still without 3G. Normally I wouldn't care so much but I am rooted with wifi tethering enabled so it sucks as far as using my other devices in areas where the internet is not an option by other means. Metro has no 3G and no 3G plans. They're skipping straight from 1xRTT (2.5G) to 4G. Sucks for us, I know, but we all manage to get by so far. My speeds average 16kbps down/24kbps up on a good day. For anything data intensive I usually just hop on home/work WiFi for.

Thank you. That explains a lot more than Metro did. Thats sucks though that being new to android I would have assumed that the transfer rates would be higher than that. But thank you for the explanation.
