Help Metro pcs galaxy light loses service

Is it normal for this phone to lose service when the battery goes below 25%? All service is lost, no data or phone service. Thanks for any help.

Oh my flipping god. I'm so glad (kind of?) that I found someone else having this problem. We JUST got this phone for my wife the other day and are running into this same problem. Once the phone gets down to 25%ish it loses all contact. We saw some people in a VERY brief post somewhere else say that they had to turn it off the automatic detect on network mode and choose manually cdma/gsm but they were mostly talking about being in an area with spotty coverage. Maybe it's a coalition? Not really sure where we go from here?

It isn't actually my phone, but i convinced a friend to get it, and was planning to get it myself on the first. Now I'm not so sure. I'll try changing that setting and see if it helps anything for him and report back here in a day or two.

My wife is pretty much set on taking it back. We're still under the 60min talk time. I ended up getting the Hydro Life because we couldn't decide. She said she just wants to get that one. It sucks that the camera is better on the Galaxy Light and that the Light has LTE and the Hydro Life doesn't, BUT, if you can't use it as a phone what good is all of that stuff?

She's also been having problems with not getting/sending calls/texts with me either. It's random, so it's hard to pinpoint anything specific.

A setting you can try, which I've seen people say helps them, is goto settings, network connections, and click on wi-fi calling. Even if you have it turned off, click network preferences and select cellular network preferred. It doesn't make sense to me if you have Wi-Fi calling turned off, but I guess supposedly it has something to do with the antenna/scripting/coding/whatever. If you try this and can test the phone, maybe by getting the battery used down to the 25% mark, and let us know. I'll try it on ours as well. Thanks!!

We're going to take the phone back and exchange it for a Hydro Life. We still have less than an hour of talk time. I've tried every setting under the sun. We THOUGHT we were in the clear because it got down to like 15-20 percent battery and she was able to stream a youtube video over data. Alas, as soon as she tried to call/text my phone it kicked out. No connection of any kind.

My fiance has the same phone and drops calls and data service I know wifi calling is turned off. When in a call it starts beeping and making a scrambled sound while on a call through the ear piece then the call drops. After a reboot of the phone she is able to make and receive a call. I have rooted the phone. She just purchased the phone last week. I know if this keeps on happening I will go back to stock and return it. Just my 2 cents...

I recently purchased this phone through metroPCS and my phone is constantly losing service. I recently noticed when my phone gets below 30% I'm shut off. I'm glad i found this post because i thought i was going crazy lol... have you guys tried changing the setting? Did it work? Ive tried everything i could think of :( i was thinking of taking it back but im enjoying the speed of the phone

I'm like you. Losing service entirely for stretches at a time, but really enjoy it when connected. Put in a trouble ticket with Metro PCS, but now I'm thinking with this thread, it's the phone. Have installed a signal booster/reconnecter with little results.

Hey Elrynon, did you give up the GL?

I too been having connectivity issues, and tried your suggestion. And so far so good. Been 2 or 3 days with a steady, stable connection. I'm going to let the battery run low now, to really test it. Can't remember if the battery has gone below 25% the last couple of days. But so far, all is good again. I leave the wifi calling on also (even though ill never use it), as I believe that was the default setting when I bought this phone. Maybe someone who just bought this device can confirm. Eitherway, that setting inside, "cellular network preferred" is definitely not checked by default and needs to be selected.

Thanks Elrynon for this suggestion, so far it seems to work. I'll give it a couple of more days just to be sure, before I root and debloat.

I'm in NYC and the 4G LTE signal is strong,... so it baffled me as to why I kept losing sevice. So thanks again Elrynon.

I also can confirm that this method works, been a week and my friend hadn't had it happen again. Thanks a bunch.

Yesterday, it happened again. I guess I spoke too soon. Lost connection with the battery at around 35%. Man, that is way too high for me to be losing a connection. I can understand the radio's struggling with a low battery, but 35% is not that low. I heard somewhere I should swap out the sim card at the corporate store. Heard that has helped. Infact when speaking to customer service on the phone last week, they had me take out my sim card and read the numbers on it, before I learned of the faulty sim cards.

I'm gonna test this out again tonight, and tomorrow, before going back to Metro.
