Metro PCS is collecting information from us

We've known about that since last month...pretty sure there's no way to disable it. So either fill it up with gay porn to give Metro the middle finger, or just put in a different microSD card and discard theirs. I think you can get 16gb cards for like 5 bucks these days.

I've wondered about this myself. It sounds like this function is in a seperate area of the card. So is it permanent? I formated it and gave it to my daughter for her Metropcs Optimus M....does the card still send data to MetroPCS I wonder? Or does formating the card remove this function? I think all the anon. data collection is BS. A lot of programs and devices do similar things I'm thinking. Big brother is definately watching. Creepy.

I wanted to see other people have done regarding this issue, thanks for the imput. I also wanted to make everyone aware

There is software installed on your phone that not only reports the information stored on your micro sd card it also reports the information stored on your phone to Metro PCS.. Replacing or formatting the micro sd card is useless. All US phone carriers have been doing this for years.. Nothing new..

No, the Sandisk card enclosed with the Indulge has a specific program on it which has been widely reported. As per the OP's link, it is not on the phone, but the card. The question is, does formatting the card remove this capability?

Any update regarding formatting the card that it will remove this capability of spying on us ?

If you uninstall the app on the phone (using the bloatware script for example) this reporting is disabled. Its not some magic hidden "virus" on the SD card. The card is unique but its similar to "magic gate" if you've ever used Sony memory sticks.

What is the name of the app? I have already rooted and would like to get rid of it using titanium backup.

edit: also if i get a larger sd card is their some way to transfer all the apps and backup to the new one?

I put a 16GB card in mine from CompUSA for $20, here in Miami.
People have known that the IM2 card reports back to the company that put it there as to how many times it is watched, etc.
To be sure that it does not get copied it is in some weird format.
So just switch out cards and say screw'em to metroPOS.

Dont forget, google might be tracking your locations also. Found in..... Settings >location and security > google location services.

If you dont have the FOTA update then your camera is tracking your GPS coordinates in every picture with no way to disable it

Then I would guess based off that everyone should eventually be getting the update inorder to control that option.
