MetroPCS blocking Speedtest.net app???

Interesting - I've read people saying since the last update to the Speedtest.net app that they have been unable to run the app, that they receive a message saying network error or something to that effect.

The first few days that I had my metro account (got it the day the Esteem was released), I was able to run the app without problems via 4G. That stopped on the 29th though - now I am unable to run the app, getting the same error message everyone else was.

Is this common across the board? Is perhaps MetroPCS blocking that app from working?

I've seen network error a couple of times, but I keep getting Wichita or Lawrence Kansas as my closest server. That must have something to do with it.

I work for metro and the only thing I've been told that's been blocked is teether.

I've used speedtest.net app on my Indulge and Esteem. Both work fine. Although, I didn't update the app. Metropcs wouldn't have any reason to block speedtest app. Teether, I know why.

Maybe uninstall the app and reinstall or uninstall the update for the app and try that after a reinstall.

Let me know.

It's not MetroPCS blocking the app, if you go to the comments section of the app in Android Market you'll see people reporting the same issue from multiple carriers... in fact if I switch my Esteem to WiFi and run the app it still gives me the error. So it's not a MetroPCS issue it's an app issue. Go to the Market and search for FCC Speedtest it is made by the same developer (OOKLA) and is less graphical, but it works just fine.

I had the network error problem twice and went into applications and cleared cache and data for the speedtest.net app and it started working again each time

I had Speedtest.net app working but when I updated it quit working. If you look at the comments on the market it isn't just the Esteem...there are a bunch of people having problems with Speedtest.net app. But yeah on a side note Fcc speed test is working just fine. Also Xtremelabs Speedtest works too.

my app works, got 2057 this morning and this afternoon i got 2592

I'm not sure what location you guys/gals are from.

But I'm from cali and I do know metro is going to remove the cap they have on their 4G speeds by Dec.

By then it will be 16mbps!

I do know their Detroit, Dallas and Michagan locations are at 16mpbs.

I can't wait!
