Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] best battery life?

2vtveih.jpg

Goodness Rom 4200 Hyperion extended battery :-)

I got crazy good battery life when I was on CM10 stable, but I recently went to CM10.1 and the battery life isn't as good but the features are worth it. That's from my experience

yes but some roms are known for horrible standby usage and some are known for excellent overall usage. ive only tried morph chemistry metropolis goodness and a little aokp. my fav in looks was aokp but my favorite rom overall was stock but im on morph because of the extra features especially multi window. i use it alot

sorry what features does cm10.1, or cm10 for that matter, have? i dont see why its worth giving up touchwiz features for it but then again i have no idea what it or aokp are about all i know is mainly support for themes and small mods here and there. is there anything major?

I mean I wouldn't say it's anything major but it has cool shortcuts and toggles that make it extremely easy to switch things on/off and I like the camera. It's really smooth all around too, I play fun run on my phone and its smoother than my iPad.

theres no rom that magically makes your battery last a week, truth lies within user's setup on his/her device like nuttmeg mentioned and the kernel. Take these examples as considerations. turning off auto brightness can help extend battery life, also turning off haptic feedback, keeping display shutoff at 15 sec or 30 sec instead of a min also improves battery life.also what is your device programmed to sync? check your google account i have my phone only to sync my contacts and gmail everything else is off. also turning mobile data when not needed greatly improves battery life although i never do that since when im home im only wifi 100% of the time and since im not addicted to my phone i can last easily two days with casual use. Also the kernel has the ability to control how much voltage your device consumes. different kernel = different results. keep in mind even with all these tweaks and mods and what not the biggest battery consumer is ourselves! we dont need to check facebook every 2 min and we dont have to play angrybirds everytime we are in the bathroom ........... dang it ok it slipped lol but hey i swear its not for a long time :D

well i set cpu profiles i undervolt to the lowest stable limit and underclock as much as possible. i freeze all unnecessary apps i keep the phone in power saving and i disable almost all startups through rom toolbox. no fb n twitter none of that and no background updates except craigslist which never used battery on stock. there is a HUGE difference between stock morph chemistry and goodness with all these modifications i mentioned stock comes first by a long shot then morph then chemistry then goodness being the worst

Right i think these other ROMs have extra processes that can be disabled since not needed. But in terms of one ROM having something extra to extend battery life that probaly would be better said if we compared the build.prop to see if it has any added tweaks which could be added to any other ROM of the same android build.

of course im not expecting some black sorcery hahaha but looking more into what roms are more stripped down and without all the extra unnecessary stuff. i mean when i loaded goodness and chemistry had to sit there for an hour going through settings and for an hour uninstalling a buttload of extra processes and apps i found absolutely unnecessary in a rom out of the box.

In that case go with stock jellybean and uninstall all bloat ware.

ya thats what im waiting for, the update. is it confirmed to have multi window? and if so why does the leaked version in metropolis not have it?

i hope no battery issues will be in the jb update or i may have to give up multi window and go to stock lj3 rooted and debloated. besides its been getting annoying with that blue bar that shows up on most apps.

i ordered the 6500mah battery on amazon the other day should b here in a few days. cant wait to try it out :D but i still prefer the thin stock battery over an extended

Myself as far as battery life I tend to stay away from watching each percent drop... I pay attention to the entire charge... I use to be like that but best way in my opinion is to go through a few cycles and see what u get...

Me personally if I can get through my typical day with one charge that's good enough for me... Gotta be realistic with all the bells and whistles gotta get charge from somewhere...

Or maybe look into an old school pantech flip phone it last my coworker 2 days on a single charge  at least that's what he says... :p

At the end of the day I figure if your getting 16 to 18 hours between charges that should be good enough... Not many people have 24 hour days nut for those who do extended battery will be the way to go or my old pantech :D

Well as far as MV I can't confirm that pnut said he saw MV on his wife's phone so on his part its confirmed I'm not excited for a firmware that I already posess but that's ok I just wanna keep a copy of final stock build for my collection.

do you have facebook app install on the phone, cause if you do go to settings and turn off auto update cause it will check every 2 or 5 minutes by default, but you can use Deep Sleep Battery Saverin the market and they even have a paid version, or you can look and try this look into this. no facebook and no background apps ill check out both those apps thanks. have u had good results with any of them?

That was soooo helpful... Thanks. Smh.

haha sorry bro. my advice is as follows:

-rom toolbox get the pro. set up cpu profiles. best is to set screen off to 192-365 then undervolt all cpu levels, find the sweet point for ur phone. each phone is different. and make sure apply at startup is checked

-then go through advanced startup modifications disable EVERYTHING except what you know for sure you will want at startup. im serious have no mercy.

-then go to titanium backup and freeze or backup and uninstall whatever you find unnecessary (preferably the latter) like all the music apps and all the settings extras which i found absolutely useless.

-then download es task manager and disable ALL startups you feel u dont need. with es dont touch messaging or obvious system startups it will leave some stuff not working. stuff like bluetooth startups is cool to disable. make sure you click "show ignored" in menu

for cpu i underclocked and undervolted ALOT i mean to the very limit.
for startup i only had some of rom toolbox statups enabled, some system startups, and some startups for apps i use like craigslist otherwise everything else was disabled.

follow these steps and any rom will give u much better battery life and performance
