Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Can anyone pleases help? I have a bootloop problem an I don't know what to do.

OK, I was using my s3 as a hot spot for a while an I noticed that when i hit the power button the screen wouldn't turn off. So I rebooted the phone and still the same thing... then again, still the power button wouldn't turn off the screen. I did it over an over an STILL THE SAME THING...

SO... I decided that maybe I should boot into to twrp recovery an wipe the cashe... so since i didn't have access to my power button, I used the app called "recovery tools" to boot into twrp. Ever since I've done that, I will get a reboot of the "samsung galaxy" screen, you know with the blue light dots in the top left corner. I don't get into the recovery page at all!!!

Even when I pull the battery an put it back it, the phone does the same thing and even does it with a different battery.

This sucks cause I have some notes for school in my phone that I no longer have access too... an oh yea... I cant make a call at all

I don't know what do do, this just happened... Please help anyone. I was on the #2 rom if that helps.

There is a problem with 4.3 doing this... I can't figure it out to save my life, and so far, I've been getting the same response that you have so far - none.

To those smarter than I, I ask this - what's the point of having a recovery, when we can't recover?

Yes, I know - "You have to use Odin and reinstall the ROM"... but that puts us right back to square one again - having to root again, remove Knox, reinstall a recovery, all our apps, etc. It's a time consuming pain in the arse, and extremely frustrating process at the very least.

I'm quite sick of it all, and frankly, I'm going back to 4.1 until this mess gets sorted out... but I seriously doubt that's going to happen. With the impending abandonment of CDMA, it looks like our S3's are not worthy of concern anymore.

In short - I feel screwed. I buy the most expensive phone Metro has, and a year later, it's worthless and has to be replaced. Metro KNEW they were going to phase out CDMA and that the phone would be useless in the very near future, but never said a word about it when they sold us the phone...

Forgive me, but I felt the need to vent. lol

I deeply appreciate the work and dedication our devs have given us, but it seems like this is the end of the line for our Metro CDMA phones... I hope someone in the know speaks up and proves me wrong - nothing would make me happier at the moment.

Heavy, I wish I knew what to tell you.
I'm in the same boat as you are, and we're not alone.

Oh crap man I do not know what to tell you...

Maybe try installing something over the sd card and see if you can boot from there, I am just as newbie as you are. I am using CyanFox 2.0.2, and is k, but still I have crashes, like when I take a picture with flash sometime crashes...

Pappy62, I feel you about the CDMA move, they freaking knew it, but do not give a S%^7 about loyal customers. I had a sense that it was going to happen and bought a used S3 for 300 bucks when the price was 500.

I am planning to stab them in the back naaasty. I will change providers and WILL NEVER get back to them. In your face metro! lol...

Now they are coming with the S5, what would be the new excuse they will comeout with?

IF you can get into download mode and have Shabby's 4.3 Tar once flashed everything will be back to normal won't loose a thing but root of course..this has happened to me a few times good luck, and if you don't have the Tar I'll post everything you need here let me know

i am honestly clueless. does this issue occur on pure stock no root/rom?

Bro it happens on stock 4.3 odexed, deodexed, Metropolis, ldrifta's #2 - basically any and every 4.3 I've tried - rooted or stock.
Weird thing is, it doesn't happen with 4.1 or 4.4... only the 4.3's.
I don't get it... super weird.

Another odd thing - when I reinstall the ROM with Odin (and confirm that everything is working right), if I try to recover (with TWRP) say, only data... it does it - but then it won't turn the screen off with the power button again... so, I reinstall the ROM with Odin AGAIN, and everything works... try to recover just the Boot thru TWRP - same thing - won't turn screen off with power button. Again. And again...

I've spent DAYS trying different combos, trying to figure out a solution - not only for myself, but for ALL of us... to no avail.

I give up man. lol It's simply over my head.

Is it possible that it's TWRP not playing nicely with 4.3????

ive yet to face the music with 4., my phone only has 4.2 and will get 4.4 eventually... and the wifes s4 has 4.2 cuz i odnt want to upgrade her stuf and mess it up in anyway.

My phone has been doing great on Rom #2 4.3... that being said I too have tried to restore using recovery and had the power button malfunction. I'm gonna give clockwork recovery a shot and see if it makes a difference.

Had this problem a few times on 4.3 after i restore it. I noticed that the media folder that suppose to be inside the system folder wasn't there not sure why it didn't get back up when I did a nandroid or if it has anything to do with the power button not turning the screen on and off. Has anyone who had this problem tried wiping system data and cache and then flash 4.3 rom and see if the power button work instead of odin back to 4.3.

I haven't seen this issue; running 4.4.2 Bam ROM. Didn't even hear of this until now. Sorry I am clueless.

Yep.
Done that, and about fifty thousand other different attempts.
I promise you - name it, and I've already tried it. That's exactly what I meant when I said "I've spent DAYS trying different combos, trying to figure out a solution - not only for myself, but for ALL of us... to no avail."
lol

Sorry man... but trust me, I feel your frustration.
I'm absolutely at the end of my bleep'n rope with it

My wife has a completely stock 4.3 CMDA s3. She has yet to run into an issue with the power button. I ran Slim's 4.3 rom and never ran into the issue. Sorry I can't offer any more help there.

As for your feelings towards the eventual shutdown of the CDMA network, your phone will still work.

If you are asking if the CDMA S3 will still get internet after the shutdown, it will get LTE.

Or at least it should - it's the same radio/frequency, so... but we all know Metro by now. lol
I wonder if we'll see a significant increase in speed/bandwidth?
I remember Fuzzy talking about some of the impressive speeds he got back when he switched to TMo.

In the past 2 weeks my LTE has gone from 5 down / 5 up and doubled. Highest upload speed I've seen is 22 and fastest download speed has been 32. Philly will be one of the first three cities to lose CDMA. That will happen this year. I'll definitely fill you all in.
