Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Keeping DATA between version?

I want to know the general way people keep their data when they change roms? Ive been using nandriod manager but im not sure if it will work when changing from touchiz to aosp?

Anyone know this?
I mostly just wanna keep messages contacts and call logs.

Can i ask what recovery do you use . I made one with clockworkmod and one with twrp and saved them to my pc . But current data i don't keep . First reason is clean rom works better . I think old data is like a common cold you can't shake unless you get cleaned . So that's why i wipe data to get better performance .

I use TWRP
and i do wipe data. i just end up recovering most of it. Im always using old text messages as reference so i sorta need them.

2 options here, use sms backup free in the play store to backup you sms/mms, call logs and all. Or make a backup of your current rom and after flashing a different rom let the phone boot to the main screen first, than reboot back into recover and tap restore and just restore data only and you will be good to go.

sms backup will back up all your sms/mms and call logs to your gmail account, you can view them via your pc and also you can restore them to any device at anytime.

i feel like i have tried the restore data only option before and encountered problems.. not booting and what-not. so ima go with sms thanks :)

Just be very careful of the sms backup . When using don't try the sms if you on 2.3 and plan to jump to a cm10 . For some reason it wont restrore . And use the same restore app each time jumping apps i learned it wont restore.
