Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] No files Found

Hey all,

I just recently tried to flash the latest CM10 nightly and noticed it was doing strange things to my directory structure even after I did multiple wipes so I decided to copy off everything and then re-format.

I did this but of course now I don't have the zip on the sdcard and wasn't able to flash the new ROM. I've tried several things so far. The one that seemed to hold promise was using adb however it could never see my device.

I tried downloading and installing several drivers but they would fail to install and if I plug in my device while in recovery it tries but fails to install a device driver.

I can get into download mode and that installs the driver just fine but I've not found any flashable files for the Samsung Galaxy s3 metro pcs phone that I can use Odin with.

I'm not even sure what exactly is wrong. I was thinking if I can just get the rom flashed I'll be fine.

Any ideas? The only thing I can think of right now is to go buy an external sd_card from Walmart or Best Buy and use a sd-card reader and put the zip on there and then install it and see if that works.

But I'm open to any other ideas and of course I'm not quite sure my idea will even work.

This is common under 4.2 you have your files they are basically under a folder called 0 look for that folder with your file explorer and your files will be there

Note you will see more than one 0 folder moved your files to the external and erase the empty ones

yeah I wish I'd known it was common. But I'm already screwed up beyond that. I booted into recovery and formatted a bunch of things and now there are no files. I don't know if flashing a new ROM will fix everything but I can't even get a zip on there to see.

I tried several things to access the internal sd to no avail. My last ditch effort is going to be to buy a sdcard and use my sdcard reader to put files on it and then see if I can flash a ROM and see if that fixes it. Unless someone has another suggestion.

Or you able to go into recovery and see if your backups are there

Nothing. Just says No Files when I select choose zip from sdcard. I do have backups though. All the files that were on there are copied to my HD on my computer. But I can't even copy anything over

Ok I'm back up. Thank goodness for the sdcard reader I bought some time ago. I did have to spend $15 for a cheap microSDHC card but small price to pay to get back up and running. Apps are nicely re-installing.

its not a matter of its common, its a feature of 4.2 and its not going anywhere any time soon. i hope people read up on what they are flashing to their 500 dollar phones as time goes on and everyone is on 4.2.

Actually I've been a bit frustrated about that. The CM Updater notified me. No What's new or anything shown. I went to the download site and didn't see any info as to what had changed.

Could you tell me where I would find this information so I can do just that. Read up on what I'm flashing? As a side note it would be awesome to have such a file located along with what we're flashing.

Heh I'll actually put it in my signature so others may be helped because I saw a number of others wondering about the same thing.

its not just you man so please dont take it personally, this is the 4th or 5th thread of people having the same issue. as well as people in both rom threads expressing confusion.

cm updater wont tell you, since you are supposed to have cm when you use it, that would imply you know what cm is. they literally could not do changelopgs for each nightly. however there is a handy site that will tell youy what changes have been made for your device (if its official, which we are ) BBQLog - Official CyanogenMod 9, 10 and 10.1 Changelog for d2mtr and that will tell ya :) you can also check for previous days as well.

what i am referring to however is that cm10.1 is based off 4.2 instead of 4.1 and people should read up on what 4.2 offers and changes which can be done at a very simple glance here Android - What's New or if you wish to really get into knowing what has been done https://android.googlesource.com/?format=HTML you can browse through all t hose folders and see every commit made to aosp :)

unfortunately none of those things will cover the sdcard/0/ thing because its not somethign google will say much about (remember if your a good user you flashed an update to 4.2 and never left it so your scard stayed the same as far as you know) and everyone else in teh android community that deals with the big stuff all figured it out months ago when 4.2 came out and the first test builds all came out.

Thanks much. Don't worry about me taking it personally. You weren't mean and were just disseminating information. I can imagine how frustrating it is to see the same threads. I admit that I posted before I really did a search and had already tried to "fix" it myself by first copying the files to the root (Got a permission error) then just backing it all up and reformatting.

I will definitely be looking up that Changelog. For some reason I hadn't been able to find it when I looked a while ago and just kinda gave up. But thanks again!

Ahh now I see what you were saying. I'd read a general what's new (not at that link though) about 4.2 way back before there was an official one for my device. But that first link is what I'd been looking for and had a frustrating time trying to find!

I'd tried going to I think the CM forums and there wasn't a section for my device. Plenty of others but not mine.

Anyway thanks again. Things are mostly stable but having an issue with a display flicker I just noticed this morning. I'll have to research that one some.

Heheh it sure did. I just did that before I saw your post. I still had the developer options hidden. I turned those on and went through to turn on the usb debugging and to enable adb and all that and saw that option and said I wonder. I selected it and the flicker went away instantly.
