Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Nv back up and restore question

Okay so I recently got a new phone so I gave my s3 to my dad. But left it rooted with the dirty unicorn rom. Say I switch roms and lost the imei or some like that could I use the nv back up I had or should I make a new nv back up since the phone number changed ?

You could just put the IMEI back in the phone. It should be on the label on the box and on the label under the battery.

the whole nv backup restore thing i dont believe ever actually ended up working for us, i think just flashing a stock rom was the fix.
