Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Official Jelly Bean Update coming!

You can, but you'll lose the root. That's assuming you're on stock with just a root.

I don't think you receive OTA's on a custom ROM, although I could be wrong. That's how it was for me in the past.
 
You can still recieve updates if you are stock and rooted, but if your on a custom rom than you would not recieve the update. But keep in mind after an update it breaks root and would have to be rooted again.

Before I respond to this quote I am a bit confused on what Shabby Penguin uploaded.. Is that a leaked update for Metro or his own custom rom??? I am waiting for the official update.

Now to the quote. If you visit XDA and search around the forums you'll find that there are OTA Update root keepers. I think there are also ones in the Play store. Sorry I don't have links or anything, but you can search for it.

Yes the one shabby release is basicly the same one metro has, and with OTA we will need to have a different root method made i believe. Cause like the ascend for example z4root was good for rooting, and after the 2.2 update we had to use gingerbreak.
 
To be honest the one I gave to shabby to modify a lil is a lil better than official build for a reason it's deoxed. Making run more efficient and smoother. Now with the official being released around the corner I believe we can take both and make a hybrid, ya wanted a clean deoxed rom well that's what ya gonna get we take both and make one to satisfy everyone.

The method of trying shabby gave us will work after OTA

OK with that in mind why this one lags and it doesn't have that butter smooth feeling is it because is a dev built?

first beta build for anything isn't suppose to be. The difference will be that the official build next month wont be Deodexed, but wont have any fc hopefully lol and will be what every1 expect "stable" im not a picky person i dont play with my home button timing it to see if its faster than yesterday lol life is too short to worry about things like that, in other words.....

i understand some people sleep with their phones and are more conscious about what their phone looks like and performs like and thats cool to each their own. i might end up waiting till official gets Deodexed before i switch over. till then its all good :D
 
I hear you on that don't get me wrong I like metropolis is just that once you get used to the smoother bb or aokp is like OK lol na but we will get there sometime next month
 
I talked to a couple guys from sammy yesterday and one of them pulled the 25th of January off the top of his head. The other one was surprised we didn't have it rolled out already, so I'm just gonna leave that here...

I guess he's disappointed other companies are getting the update first and fast. Heck the S2 is getting the update in FEBRUARY.

I wouldn't complain though, he should have read into Metro, and seen that they are really slow and sometimes never update their phones at all.

I'm used to this so I just don't really care, and can wait patiently.

I hear you but this time metro did deliver yes we got the phone last and the update as well but at least we are getting it soon it could had been worse

disappointed that ATT, the nations second largest carrier got their jellybean update before the 5th largest?
