figure which modem you are using at the moment u can tell by going to settings and about device at bottom and just look at baseband version the last 3 letters.
im guessing you might have mb2 already now that i think about it. if so download md3 from that link place it on your sd card and enter recovery and select install and flash it. you can try all of them to see which one gives you better signal/4g speeds or battery life. they all vary depending on your location.

I read also that the md3 modem would work best with ROMs that are built for it?

Shabby could clarify more on that but the modem is separate from the rom meaning it's only used on calls sms mms and data and doesn't conflict with any rom. But regardless I think the best way to determine which modem is better for u is to download all of them to your sd card and flash one by one and if u go to settings and about device and then status then signal strength the lower the number for example - 100db is alright but if u get - 90 or lower that's better. So for me right now i have - 100db and that's about three bars worth more or less and it's decent for my area. My 4g data in my bedroom is at 6mbps out side I'm at 8mbps a block away at walmart I'm at 10mbps that's me using md3.

That makes sense. But I'm reading on other threads that an update to their rom is for the new modem.

Where did u hear this? I would not recommend installing a modem from elsewhere only metropcs releases modems for our variant. Installing/flashing modems from anywhere else could seriously brick your phone.

lol no not some other modem. don't remember which thread it was, but the talk was about an updated rom would work best with the new modem put out.

uuhhhmmm lol nevermind. I went back to where I thought I saw it, but the info was actually for the kernel. nevermind lol

So I got an update on Metropolis N4zty but again Im lost on what to do?

its all good we on top of things me and shabby tackled it. he stayed up late last night working on the new metropolis based off on the new mf2 firmware.

http://androidforums.com/official-u...etropolis-rom-4-1-2-touchwiz.html#post5396830

download the 1.4.0 update place it on ur sd card enter recovery enter first to wipe then slide to wipe once its done go back and go to install look for metropolis 1.4.0 and install/flash it then once it done wipe cache dalvik then reboot and let it do its magic. ill let u know now shabby had a issue with the boot animation so ur screen will remain black and will look like its not booting up ill tell u now relax its indeed booting up. u will eventually see the soft led light on the bottom of ur phone light up then enter first time setup.

edit: also flash the new mf2 modem since shabby never adds it to his rom as a safety precaution incase some1 is dumb enough to flash his rom on another variant it wont brick his device.

save the modem to sd card and go to install and flash it and just reboot no need to wipe anything.
