Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Quick question about nv backup and restore

Suppose I flashed a rom and I needed to restore the nv do I do it while in custom rom or return to stock? Also how would I go back to stock rom? I know about using Odin but wouldn't that erase the nv back up? I know I ask a lot but just want to be sure
 
You can restore it on any ROM. Go through the nv backup thread. I haven't read through the whole thread, but I believe any questions you have should already be answered there.
 
I got a question on this subject also lets say I wanted to move the back up created to dropbox where does the system store it exactly in case data gets corrupt somehow?
 
what I dont know about the nv thing is how many times should we do it? should we back up everytime we are about to flash a new rom? Or one time is all we need ?

It's stored in NAND so according to our highly experienced devs ;) you can't actually find it
