I was able to use Shabbypenquin's guide to successfully root my sg3 after losing root due to 4.1.2 update: CWM MetroPCS SGS3 - PlayfulDroidz Wiki (I do have some clarifying tips that helped me, if you'd like)

Many available within this subforum (go to main "all things root" page) Someone (can't remember, or would credit) clued me in that moving on to 4.2.2 would require special apps written for that version. I tried Shabbypenguin's Metropolis, worked fine - then did cwm recovery back to stock, for now. Play with them ---AFTER you do a "nvbackup" (with Terminal Emulator), info here in this subforum - browse around some.
