Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] "Your device ... modified. Software updates are not available."

Newbie
Rooted my recently acquired SG3 last night. Performed Software Update from ICS to JB this morning. Now --- Apps\Settings\About device\Software update\Update = "Your device.......updates are not available". Apps\Settings\About device\Status\Device status = "modified".

This is Not the same issue as posted in another subforum, as I have not installed an external SD card yet (which seemed to be causing their problem).

Trouble? -- or, not to worry (another update probably lightyears in the future), just temporarily Unroot later to update?

I just unrooted and returned to stock yesterday so I can do the update and it worked, but its nothing special, it's not like we got premium suite or anything. So as of right now I already rooted it again and installed TWRP and I'm running a 4.2.2 rom haha so pretty much a waste of my time. But that's my 2cents , just giving my feedback :)

OK I try to do the same but it took me to recovery and couldn't install the update even though I was stock un rooted so if you don't mind telling me how you got yours

Most likely means you have a custom recovery. Samsung won't update your device if the OTA update detects a custom ROM, kernel or recovery (CWM or TWRP) on your device. Which is why I avoid 'em.

Nope, strictly Stock -- only mod was rooting. Have loaded Root Explorer and Titanium Backup -- nothing else (of an "unusual" nature).

I got the update w/ Root, CWM, Mobil Odin, switched from CWM to TWRP and Stock ROM/Kernel .. never got that "status"

but when I couldn't install the update from unknown issues, I installed metropolis and for that code lol screw 'em .. we've got a bad ass community here that puts out even better material for us to use.

My Status had been Normal untill this morning. Now it says Modified. It must have tried to update overnight. I am on the MB2, 4.1.2 that I updated with Mobile Odin.
