Root [MetroPCS] Does ROEHSOFT RAM Expander work with CarbonROM and SD card hack?

I keep running out of RAM and as a result I lag like a phone running on Android 2.3. I found an app called ROEHSOFT RAM Expander and was wondering if it works with Carbon and the SD Card hack. And one more thing concerning the SD card hack. I haven't been able to download APK's from Amazon Appstore and I even tried Aptoide to see if it was a problem with Amazon. For the record, I'm not endorsing piracy.

I had the same issue back in day with sd. Any app you install after installing mod wont work. I believe its a certain read/write issue. Some apps will install such as ones from app store, but others like from 4shared or Titanium backup,amazon, etc will not work at all.

The other trevor that post here told me I could move the file to /storage and it installs that way, but if you have data you are trying to recover good luck. Try changing it to read and write and see if you have any luck that way. I don't know which directories are duplicated and emulated from internal to external so perhaps some1 can figure that out.

Im using link2sd with ext 4 partition and have yet to run out of room. Id rather use the mod hack, but its limited.

ROEHSOFT RAM is a page file manager and it actually does little to give you "more" ram or increase your performance. IIRC a page file contains the memory address of w/e was accessing the ram, so when all your ram is taken up, ROEHSOFT saves those address in a temporary file and stores it on your external card or internal card. When a program that closed due to lack of RAM is reopened and it needs to look into the memory address again, ROEHSOFT opens the page file and the page file tells the program where it last accessed the RAM. So ROEHSOFT doesn't really give you more ram; it tries to get rid of the overhead of a program requesting memory allocation on the RAM. Think of ROEHSOFT like the quick save/load feature in PC games. Using the quick save or load feature saves time by not going into a menu and finding and clicking the save or load button, and that is what ROEHSOFT does with the RAM and a page file. Also, if you configured ROEHSOFT to use an sdcard you have to use a card with a high write speed (not sure if it's a high constant write speed or a high random access write speed) because a slow write speed will actually decrease your performance. RAM speed is much faster than flash memory speed.

TL;DR ~ you can't download more ram. If it worked that way phone manufacturers wouldn't be advertising phones with more ram as a feature

PS: I would also like to add that Android is supposed to eat as much RAM as possible because every time you kill an app from the ram and reopen it, it takes up CPU cycles, and CPU cycles+accessing ram again = battery consumption. Android is all about battery efficiency so that's why your RAM is always filling up. It's supposed to. I used to own a shitty 512MB ram galaxy s 4g. All my apps ate up 80-90% of the RAM. I got this phone and installed the same apps I had on my galaxy s 4g, and even with 512MB more ram, the phone is still consuming 80-90% of the available ram. The only difference between 512MB of RAM and 1GB of RAM is that with 1GB of RAM I have more programs eating up the RAM. F**king Facebook I'm looking at you!

Regarding as hack using the new one I had issues too found out if you do a full refresh on PC to stock then root and add supersu and busybox go into twrp and reflash carbon the Kernel and the full modulator Gaps then the sdhack you shouldn't have issue nomore. I used to have issue until I did a full refresh this way now everything installs in and out of store no issues. I used the toolkit to go back to stock though. Unsure if that makes a difference but ya. Give it a try may work for you too. Google twrp for f6.old version on a youtube post

I tried it... Started using it for every flash.... Seemed like it was helping...

One of the carbon installs (I've flashed carbon more than 5 times.. Due to self lamecy and over tweaking)... I forgot to race to stop play store from installing every thing I've tried and it kept in back up to install every time I log into Google after flashing a ROM...

Ran out of room before I installed what I basically need with no bells and whistles... And didn't get to install the roehsoft app..

Nothing seemed any different without it... And realized my p.o.s. f6 seemed faster without it... So...

I don't have a zippy sdcard... so I can live without it...

Since someone broke down what was going on with it... It's basically snake oil.... One less app I have to hope there's room for .
