MetroPCS Galaxy S5

I am most likely going to have to leave Metro :/ Been with them since the Huawei Ascend, LG Esteem, and S3. I want the S5 now, and I was planning on paying the $650 (one of the salesman at the store told me it would be around that price, and at the end of this month), but almost 700 for a phone is a lottttt of money. I would highly regret it, thinking "I could've spent all that money on something else". Metro PCS is such a great company though. $55 for unlimited data is amazing. But I have to do what I have to do, sadly.
 
No matter where you go or who you get it from your gonna end up paying 650 for the phone one way or another. Just depends if you wanna pay it all at once or over 2 years either with phone payments or more for service.

Yea thats the thing. Even though its basically the same, it won't hurt me as much to spend it little by little. I have wifi around me more than ever, so I doubt I'm going to need unlimited data from a company.

Can't argue there. Almost every carrier also will offer a deal with the s5. May even be able to get one with zero down. Personally I'm waiting till the end of April for the oneplus one to drop. 5.2 in screen snapdragon 801 processor 3gb ram 13 mp camera 3100 mah battery and it comes with cyanogen 11 installed all for under a 400 buck price tag.
 
That sounds sweet, but do you think metro would let that phone use their network and if not which one would?
 
Well I haven't seen metro announcing a pre order or if they are indeed releasing on Friday .. Also there's no specific details on pricing.. I'm willing to pay $650 on the phone.. I don't see what's the hold up.. Metro pcs will be loosing customers if they don't tell the public what's there plans are on the galaxy S5( release dates and pricing).
I past in a metro pcs store today and ask the rep about the metro pcs releasing the s5. He said according to what his boss tell him , they will not get the S5 until next week or end of April,, I don't really believe him, but if that's the case I'm leaving metro pcs.. Cause all they did is build up people hopes.. Also while I was there chatting with the rep about 4 different customers came in asking about news on the S5, and they were as pissed as I was when they were told that they most likely will not get it on Friday..
I'm just praying they start selling them on release day.. How unfair would that be if all the other us carriers got theirs on release day, esp tmobile, and metro customers doesn't get theirs. I'm willing to pay the $650 for the phone
as long as I can get it unlocked in 3 months for my vacation...

It'll be a gsm phone no cdma model and will be released in the u.s. so yes can be used on metro/T-Mobile. Should support t mobiles LTE bands just fine. There's a forum in the phones section here for it with all its specs and announcements. Looks really good.
 
the big three carriers except t-mobile disabled the one worthwhile new feature S5 had (download booster). will be interesting to see if metropcs branded one has it.

My friend just called me about her buying a unlocked galaxy s5 on eBay for $629 plus $20 shipping.. They are available in black and white only..
I really want a galaxy s5, been waiting on it so long and from what I'm seeing metro pcs don't have any plans of releasing the phone tomorrow .. I was thinking about buying one, but there's not much info on the phone.. My problem is will metro pcs hook it up or would they try to give me some bullshit about they can't hook it up only because they getting there's soon and they want me to buy it from them???


I don't know wat to do:: buy it or don't buy it

You can buy the BYOD kit and do it yourself but they're not going to say they can't put it on their just because they're getting theirs.
The only thing you need to check is if it has the correct bands for T-Mobile's network
 
I checked twice; In March and this past Saturday. Both different salesman but same answer. "By the end of the month".

On a data plan with capped data it makes complete sense to disable download boost. If your on WiFi why would you want it to draw off your data thus taking data from your allowance just so you can have an app a half second faster? Seems dumb if your on a capped data plan.

but why disable a feature that no one has? its like putting a hard block in the engine of a Porsche at 70 mph because thats the highest speed you are allowed to drive!
as per your line of reasoning they should save the users from themselves by not selling this phone to unlimited data users! are they doing it?

I just wanted to know if anyone out there knows when the samsung galaxy s5 is being released for metro pcs. Please post any info on anything you know if anyone else knows about this phone.

No there saving users from themselves and plenty of people will have the feature. The international version and the T-Mobile version will both have it. Want that feature buy one of those. Its a gimmick useless feature anyway that in a month people will say it sucks and is using up all there data. There's no need for it on a us device. What 20-30 Mbps download times are to slow for you? And actually they do restrict speeds on some cars for u.s. sales.but noones talking speeds here that analogy makes no sense. I'm talked tiered data plans. And Why wouldn't they sell the phone to unlimited data users? That makes no sense at all....actually unlimited data users are the only ones who can benefit from the download boost....prolly why t mobile didn't block it....makes sense huh?
 
Look at it this way say your on Verizon and you have 2gb of data a month. Now say your on WiFi 50% of the time. When your on WiFi do you really want something eating up your data...which you only get 2gb of a month...just to download something a split second faster. Isn't the whole point of being on WiFi so you don't eat up all your data if your on a tiered plan???
 
i get it why you think carriers are doing it. you are justifying their mutilation of a phone feature. the speed analogy was sarcasm in case you did not notice the emoticon at end.
a smartphone user should be smart enough to disable that feature if they are on limited data. unfortunately you are correct and they are not. thats why iphone sells the most and even in android world most users use toolkits to root.

This is true. I do find it weird the sprint version disabled it but then again I've heard rumblings that once spark is fully implemented that sprint may tier there data as well.
 
Update on the unlocked galaxy S5
Purchase the phone few days ago.. I got it this morning, put in the metro pcs micro SIM card and it immediately recognized it.. Called *228 and flow the instructions and activated it .. My new samsung galaxy is working great.. I noticed that for the data the icon is saying H+ Or H , 4g ( it changes depends on where I'm in the house, signal strength) . Been playing with it all evening and no issues with connectivity , calls , texts or anything.

Paid $629
