Root [MetroPCS/GSM] Flashing a custom rom will change the model #?

I have a Samsung GS3 SHG-T999N. I rooted it the flashed the C-RoM v6.5...the rom is working great, but when I tried to connect to kies3 on my laptop it said the phone wasnt compatible. I looked in the settings and its running Android 4.4.2, and then I noticed that the phone's model # changed from SGH-T999N to T999. Was it supposed to do that? Any and all help is greatly appreciated

Also if its possible, I need the phone to be compatible with kies3. I really like this rom, so if there's a way to keep the rom and make it compatible with kies3 that would be awesome… thanks in advanced

Why do you need kies? Im confused, why not use odin, screw kies. If your running anything but a stock rom it wont work. N e ways why would you need kies, maybe I can help with what your trying to do. I have this phone. And the phandroid app as soon as you reply I can message back
