Root [MetroPCS/GSM] This subforum is so desolate...

Do we have devs on this phone currently? I haven't been able to find the right way to get CM10 on my S3. I have the SGH-T999N. There are so many kinds of this phone, even just for MetroPCS, that I'm worried about flashing the wrong thing. Just tried to follow the complicated instructions on CM's wiki for another similar model to no avail. Help :(
 
Remember to back up your system. Also ive come to realize with using these roms your gonna be sacrificing a few things whrn it comes to our phones. My number one issue is not one rom works with screen mirroring. They have screen cast but it doesnt work, none of them. Also youll have wifi issues with some and not all flash your apn settings so take pictures or copy yours. If you run into trouble I have a post and a link to my dropbox that has everything to get back to stock and to reroot. Ill post link below this post. Ive noticed there are few who help here. Ill try if I can just message the forum and ill reply asap. Or if it gets to rough a phone call may be easier. Ive flashed many different roms to only go right back to stock with root. In about a month we should be getting kitkat. Goodluck let me know how it works out

Resurrection Remix, the ROM i linked you to the other day is the absolutely most stable ROM with 4.4.2 I've had on my S3. I haven't switched, updated, or had random reboots..absolutely flawless.

And a lot of ROMs the WIFI breaks because of an issue with the kernels. Any ROM you flash, as long as you flash the KT747 kernel, you won't have WIFI issues.
 
I agree that rom seemed very stable everything seemed to work. I likethe kt747 kernal. But let me ask you this. .. have you tried the screencast. I use screen mirroring with the allshare cast dongle and the kt747 kernal or any other than stock does not seem to support it. Get back with me on that let me know what you think. Also you know we are getting kitkat very soon anyways. Id love to be able to overclock a stock kernal. Because if we could do that all you would need is ThemerBeta app from the play store. Check it out its pretty awesome. Best themer ive seen so if we could fix screen cast errors on kernal. Id be set

Once thats done, you can pretty much flash any rom you find for the T999, or now a lot of devs are builing a straight base rom d2lte which is good for all variants of the LTE S3.

Thanks. When I looked, I realized I tried this but the recovery didn't seem to take. I followed the steps, the phone rebooted itself fine, received "PASS" in Odin...yet no recovery option so I'm probably trying to access it wrong. Haven't had a lot of time to work on my phone or I would have probably figured all of this out by now.

Edit: I figured it out by now. I have recovery :P Now I still just need to figure out what CM10 is safe to flash lol. I currently have a CM_10.1.2_d2tmo-d2ltetmo-d2can.zip but still doing research before I go ahead and flash it. >_<
 
Scroll right above your last post and try those 2 links. Id flash the rom first let it boot then flash the kernal. Im using the kernal now not the rom. If you wanna try it before you find cm10. And if all ends badly restore a backup. And if all fails I have links in both threads to my dropbox that will get back to stock so you can try all over again. And use triangle away to reset your counter

That is a great ROM. Unfortunately, I always go back to stock because the other ROM's don't have wifi calling or earpiece volume boost. Has anyone found a way to fix that besides with stock?
 
I haven't, im like you I go back to stock everytime but I am liking this kt747 kernel. Only issue ive found is screen cast doesnt work. If youll download an app called themer beta from playstore and use the kt747 kernal you wont need anything else. Atleast until we get kitkat later this month
