Root [MetroPCS] Locked after factory restoring?

Akab

Lurker
Hey all, I used the LG Support Tool to recover stock rom but now it says "service provider locked". I bought the phone unlocked (MetroPCS version). Will I have to buy an unlock code or something? Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

Your phone must have come unlocked for metro PCS sim cards only. To carrier unlock the phone you'll either have to buy service with metropcs for 3 months and get the unlock code from them, or if you want freedom you can buy the specific unlock code for your device here for $12 http://www.ontimemobile.com/category/1893/LG_Optimus_F6.html. I have 2 friends with the same phone and it's never failed me. You're going to need to do this on a stock rom such as xperion or the stock lg rom. I've tried it on kitkat roms but it doesn't work for whatever reason.

When you get the unlock code:
1. Power phone on with accepted SIM card
2. Enter 2945#*500#
3. Unlock menu will appear
4. Enter the code NCK code for network lock or SPCK code for service provider if service provider is locked
5. Press ok

You also need a diffent carrier sim card to unlock it with before you put youre metroPCS simcard back in. And yes the $12 unlock code is worth it, I was screwed over once by a cheaper scam. The LG codes have worked on 3 of my phones so far, there no scam its worth it.

I've done it with a metro pcs sim card in the phone, just to prove that it's doable.

Hmmm if it works it works I've never tried since I happened to have had that random carriers sim card lyin around that fit my phone. A bro you have a link to any info on running init.d scripts? I apologize for any intrusion, I'm running the Xperion ROM &, freedom kernel if the info helps, I see you have ran this same setup is all.

Just a different sim all together must be all it takes. Metro,Verizon,Boost whoever.Well alright then, buy ya if you have any info on the init.d scripts I've found all the files that I flashed off XDA's site, Juuuuuuust not sure what to do with em. I hear I can run a script to help save battery and whatnot.
