Root [MetroPCS] Removing software used for calling?

Ilsa11

Lurker
Hi, this is my first time rooting. I am still in the process of rooting because the information is kinda scattered and says different things...shrug. I have deleted some bloatware and am going to partition the drive next and move the ROM software onto my computer.
Since this is no longer a phone I use, my son will just use it for games or youtube, so can i delete the software for making phone calls?? I have no clue if it is the same as the wifi connection, not to sound like a "noob" ha. :specsdroid:
I just know the serious lack of internal memory is a pain and I plan on using the 8gb sd card I have in there already.

As for as I know, the phone app itself is only around 15MB so it won't matter that much space wise. The default LG keyboard does take a lot of space and if you install a smaller keyboard, you would save space then. Also, have you done the SD card hack?

P.S. I froze the app with Titanium Backup and my phone seemed fine... I think you should be able to remove it no problem (but don't quote me on this) be sure to always have a backup.

yeah i removed my phone, contacts and all stuff pretty much that has to do with phone calling and messaging and it works fine i use it as a game phone very light weight SD hack installed , Xperion and Freedom installed OC'ed to 1.5 this thing flys playing racing rivals :-D

if you meant your keeping the card in there listen to the sd hack advice but i kinda read it as i need internal space because i need to use the 8 gig for other things
remove phone contacts and messaging apks.its that simple and simple make sure you removed any shortcut icons to those that may have stayed.they really arent main things thatd break the phone if you dont intend to call. u kill the functions and shortcuts no errors should popup.think of an android phone as linuix but with the option to call.linuix is totally customizable to a point.if its only to be used for games theres alot you can remove just rule of thumb if you dunno what something is dont remove it.i wouldnt remove wifi tho unless u dont want him to connect wirelessly on the net lol. and ty not to delete anything google as google and android work hand in hand for functionality.gl and happy modding
ps for a better gaming deal tho id go get a samsung evo 32 gig class 10 sd card and do the sd hack

i got one cost 30 bucks and it is swappable fully on the sd card hack

Haha well I just figured out by accident the ansswer is no, not a good idea to get rid of phone apps. I disabled it and when I rebooted after backing up data, it started freaking out, popping up with the same error message continously until I disabled it...so yeah lesson learned.
I did figure out about the SD card as I accidentally wiped it and had to repartition it.. I had to start the entire root process over, geez..and now I'm on the same part again where I messed up before. I haven't even installed the rom yet cuz last time I did it wrong, duh... I wanted to do this to see if I could and I'm not going to root my tablet or phone until I'm confident I can.
