Root [MetroPCS] Service change

I have a rooted s4 from Metro, which supposedly runs off of t-mos gsm towers. So I decided I wanted to change service to t-mo to get a plan that Metro doesnt offer, but when I went in to do this t-mo put their sim card in & it wouldnt recognize it....
Needless to say I was stumped & T-mo didnt know what to do.
Any thoughts ?

*****i found this after the unlock link******
1.The unlocking methods for TMOBILE SGH-M919 and other carries do not work on the M919N.
2: Metro PCS does not currently have unlock codes for this phone. (This comes from speaking to a Metro PCS department supervisor)
3. The service menu is different. You can access it by typing *#197328640#*

Nope flashing any other roms wont do anything, you have to actually unlock the imei. And so far all the methods posted on youtube or on the web doesn't work for our version. You will have to purchase the unlock code unfortunately.

Danywv, didn't you unlock yours via fastgsm? Isn't that what I read in the link you posted?

Yes ARocker but I did it when I was with the T-Mobile firmware installed on my phone. Was very easy. Went to the webpage, bought the T-Mobile unlock package, downloaded the software, installed, the software recognized my phone as a SGH-M919 and got unlocked. Just like any other T-Mobile S4 owner would do it just that I was using a MetroPCS S4 phone with a T-Mobile firmware on my phone. Their system never realized that my phone was a MetroPCS S4 with a T-Mobile firmware.

Ahh, so the software said that it unlocked the phone...sounds to me like it worked...but did it really? I wonder? Just because it said the phone is unlocked, doesn't mean its really unlocked or maybe it was unlocked, IDK. Only way to test is to do the process and then try to hook it up to another carrier I think. I know you didn't do that cause you didn't need to. Maybe savtattoo can try it? The reason I'm asking is that most of the stuff i read was like what dulal wrote and I was under the impression that was right but then again, I also read something about a 3 month waiting period to unlock so I dont know.

BTW savtattoo, what plan does Tmo have that youre interested in? Just curious...

It worked using fastgsm. I have another phone from AT&T for my work and every time I want I put that SIM card on my phone and instantly I'm on AT&T network. :p

In metro's world you have to have 90 days of continues service, and than you can request for an unlock code in which they will provide to you. :)

I heard that too, lets hope it'll work. Metro is very unpredictable and Costumer Service is the worst of the worst.
