Root [MetroPCS] Tethering on stock roms

Ok, just a brief as to how I do tethering on my phone currently from the stock roms:

USB Tethering

This is the easiest way to tether with stock ROMs as it is as simple as an order of operations and does NOT require special software at all.

First, plug in the USB cable to your PC. Second, you turn on airplane mode to disable the signal so that the app can not verify with the service provider that you are authorized to tether. Then you enable tethering and wait for it to act like it is verifying and turns on the USB tether. Last, you disable airplane mode.

Wifi Tethering

This is a bit trickier for most but I know the dead spots for signal in my house so I can do this trick in a similar fashion to the USB tethering and if I'm quick enough I can even do it with signal. Pretty much you are trying to achieve what I do with USB tethering and deny a signal from verifying with the service provider so that it just unlocks by default. This can be done by finding a dead spot and waiting for it to just time out with it's request and let it enable, or manage to do the airplane mode toggles fast enough to keep the system from not allowing you to turn on wifi tethering. (this method is MUCH harder to do)

Bypassing user agent checks

There is a program on the web called Fiddler 2. I would like to thank flying2sky in the other tethering thread for this gem. Fiddler 2 is a great app that lets you change the User Agent of all activity on that computer and does not require changes in the browser (this was important because some games use a web interface and you would not be able to change the string for that app which would trigger the tethering payment screen).

Setting up Fiddler 2

Once you install, if you have a Windows 8 or above OS, ignore the screen about apps with the metro ui for now. When the screen comes up, look to the lower left and to the right of capture. It should say "All Processes" by default. This is to keep logs (something this program was originally intended for) and isn't needed for what we want to do. Click on it and set it to "Hide all". The reason for this is so that we don't keep taking up memory for no reason. Next, go to Rules and User Agent and select IE 11 (Win 8.1) from the list. For some reason they haven't blocked this User Agent so we will use it. The last option is to minimize it to the system tray so it is out of your way by selecting the option under Tools/fiddler options and select the option to minimize to tray.

There you have it. This is how I tether everyday at home. I plan to have some pictures up here as well in the future to make this easier to understand.

The best way to thank me, if you intend to, is to give me the info I need to use the native USB tether in the other ROMs on this forum. Currently it seems that I don't have the right driver on Windows 8.1 and it won't accept the tethering connection for some reason.

Anyways, hope this was helpful to ya.
