Short-time lurker, first-time poster chiming in to say I tried to root my MetroPCS Optimus F6 using towelroot on the 12b firmware. It didn't work.
I downloaded the .apk straight from towelroot and was a bit bummed why this one-click wonder didn't root for me. I ran it again and noticed it's labeled version 2.
Fortunately, I had downloaded the .apk a few days ago, so I uninstalled V2 and installed the earlier one, which is version 1, and ran it.
Phone rebooted and Root Checker -- and SuperSU -- confirmed I have root.
I can make this .apk available to anyone else who needs it.
Thanks to Game Theory, pressy4pie and all the others who've gone above and beyond to share information and put together applications to improve this phone.
Looking forward to putting in the Link2SD, Freedom Kernel and debloater!
